Trades Summer School at QAC
Do you want to learn how to tackle DIY plastering or tiling in your own home or maybe a project you’re undertaking? Our short intensive courses could be just the thing! Both courses listed are delivered by a qualified tradesman;
Plastering 20th July - 24th July
One week intensive course giving you the skills needed to plaster in your own home. Skills you will learn include:
- Health and safety introduction
- Tools and materials introduction
- Cutting and fixing plasterboard to walls
- Skimming walls
- Fixing angle beads
- Application of backing plaster
- Application of finishing coat to plaster board
- Application of finishing coat to backing coat
- Patch repair
£300 per person
Tiling 27th July – 31st July
One week intensive course giving you the skills needed to tile in your own home. Skills you will learn include:
- Health and Safety introduction
- Materials handling
- Tiling setting out to guarantee the correct results
- Correct use of manual tile cutting tools
- Correct use of hand tools, such as wall and floor trowels, floats and squares
- Tiling on uneven walls
- Identifying the correct adhesives and tiling grouts for different tiling situations
- Correct use of tile beads and trims
- Different tile types, such as ceramic, natural stones
- All aspects of cutting and drilling tiles around obstacles, such as light switches, doors
