Name: Rashaan H-R

Course: Supported Internship

Year at QAC: Third Year

Placement: Harborne community café Front of House – Catering (Currently)

I  am a supported intern. I attend 5 days a week on this programme, when I am not on placement such as a Tuesday, I will do Maths and English.

I used to have Thursdays as my work experience but not anymore with Nando’s on a Wednesday. I still attend the work experience with Friday Group (Open Theatre) on Friday.

At 9:50AM Harborne Community Café opens. I get there before it opens all the time usually around 9:40AM.

12PM after lunch, I start my work placement at Harborne community café front of house. I take my coat off and wash my hands before I start serving customers orders.

My first job is organising chairs and tables wipe them off. Next, then I use the tablecloth and wipe them and then add the table numbers.

All the work ends the exact 2PM. Through these times I serve the lunch and juice to the customers of table 6 only. I ask them if they’re ok.

Through being on the Supported Internship Programme, I get to achieve relevant qualifications whilst on this programme and develop my skills required to help me gain a job and become much more independent.
