QAC's Staff Summer Celebration

QAC’s staff work exceptionally hard to make sure our students’ and clients’ time at QAC is rewarding, successful and enjoyable.   This year, we thought it would be great to have a staff get-together to mark the end of the year and as a thank you to staff.  It had been a popular suggestion with staff to have a party but as there is restricted space on campus and up to 450 staff, opportunities are fairly limited.

However, the Staff Summer Celebration happened this year (thanks to the magic of Executive Assistant, Dali) and was our chance to present QAC’s team Values Awards, to say goodbye to staff leavers and to recognise a number of long service staff who have worked at QAC over 30 years.

Although we had envisaged a sunny, summer’s day and a relaxed summertime soiree, the good old British weather (rain) meant we made much use of the hugely spacious marquee that had been installed earlier in the week for Friends & Families Day functions.  The weather didn’t dampen spirits and we were able to mix and mingle in the marquee. 

Our brilliant DJ Ben, a long time ex-student, and expert DJ, led the dancing and karaoke.  As soon as the party started, staff came forward to sing, squawk and generally belt out their karaoke favourites and this was followed by a disco. The bosses were game and did a topical karaoke number to get a laugh and everyone in the mood.  It was great to see so many staff and invited guests enjoying themselves, catching up with each other, taking time to relax at the end of a busy year and enjoying the curry and samosa feast. 

A grateful thanks to Nijjars in Smethwick for their high quality service, great value for money and for delivering the delicious food on time; the food went down a treat and people loved it!
