HSBC receives recognition award after being nominated by QAC!

Congratulations to HSBC for their recognition award at the Inaugural West Midlands Supported Internship event held on Monday 14th October.

The Inaugural West Midlands Supported Internships Event, held at Shoosmiths in Birmingham, brought together colleges and some of the region’s biggest employers for a celebration of job creation for students with special education needs.

HSBC has been working with QAC since 2022 to create work experience placements which enable SEND students to build valuable employment skills. The bank has offered a variety of branch placements and recently employed three interns in paid jobs.

John, QAC’s Lead Work Placement Coordinator commented:

"It was a privilege to present HSBC with an award in recognition of their commitment to supporting our interns with work experience opportunities and paid employment. Our partnership began in 2022, and it was clear from the outset that what they said they were going to do, they meant.

"They have dedicated time to understanding the diverse needs of our students and putting this knowledge into practice, from producing accessible job adverts, to supporting students before, during and after their time on placements. They have made a big difference to the lives of three of our interns, who have gone on to secure paid employment and they continue to work with us to break down barriers to employment for our students with special educational needs and disabilities."

A brilliantly deserved award. Thank you, HSBC.
