Community Award Success for Former Student

We are very happy to share the exciting news that former QAC student and current Coffee Junction volunteer, Matthew, has won the 'Outstanding Young Person' category at this year's Smethwick Community Awards! Further highlighting the excellent effort Matthew has been putting in whilst volunteering at Coffee Junction in Bearwood.

Councillor Richard Marshall commented, "It was a very tough contest with some excellent nominations put forward so it is testimony to Matthew, staff at Coffee Junction and QAC that he deservedly won the Award".

The ceremony was held at the Prestige Suite in Smethwick on Friday 18th March with more than 100 nominees, who give up their time voluntarily to improve and sustain local services, selected in seven categories ranging from Outstanding Citizen to the Good Neighbour Award.

Staff at Coffee Junction said, "Matthew is a valuable member of the team, helping out with other students we have here. He has come along way since starting with us and his abilities are going from strength to strength."

This award acknowledges Matthew’s hard work and effort to fulfil his potential and move on to achieve great things not only at Coffee Junction, but also within the local community.

A special mention also goes out to Coffee Junction and the fabulous support provided by the team to provide great opportunities for volunteers and QAC students working towards achieving their potential and gaining valuable work experience.

Staff both here at QAC and over at Coffee Junction are extremely proud of Matthew's magnificent achievement!
