Colleges Week 2024 - Student Voice

QAC empowers young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities to achieve their ambitions and to lead fulfilling lives. Students are at the heart of everything we do - their voice matters!

Each year our students are asked to consider joining the Student Council and to nominate themselves for election if they are interested.

This year we had 30 candidates and 224 students voting for their Student Council representatives from across different areas of the College, with 9 students elected into post for 2023/24.

Members of the Student Council convene for meetings to provide a voice for all students to put their ideas and thoughts forward, whether that is about events and activities or changes they would like to see in College.

A QAC student commented: "It's important to have a Student Council because they can make sure that your voice is heard."

Every 6 weeks the Student Council hosts an open door event for students to attend and contribute to all aspects of College life and share what they enjoy about being a student at QAC, this helps the College to further develop and enhance the student experience within safe and well-resourced environments.
