Colleges Week 2023
Across the country, colleges are marking Colleges Week from 9 October, which is now in its sixth year. Around 1.6m students are educated in further education colleges across the UK, and this annual event is an opportunity to showcase the breadth of opportunities colleges provide and the ways in which they transform lives and communities.
This year, the celebrations span two weeks (9-20 October). The first week focuses on how colleges support local skills, labour markets and life chances.
The first week will start on Monday 9 October. It will focus on how colleges support local skills, labour markets and life chances. Each day will focus on a key sector which colleges support, daily themes will include:
- Monday 9 October – Construction
- Tuesday 10 October – Digital
- Wednesday 11 October – Green Skills and a Day of Sports
- Thursday 12 October – Health and Social Care
- Friday 13 October – Hospitality
The second week will start on Monday 16 October and will shine a light on the role colleges play in supporting the national economy and how with greater investment the sector can help boost the country’s flagging productivity levels. It will also tie in with the following events:
- Wednesday 18 October – Colleges Week Parliamentary Reception
- Thursday 19 October – Student of the Year 2023 finalists announced
- Friday 20 October – #ShowYourSkills competition winners announced
