Barclays Employees Visit and Support the College and Students!

Last week we welcomed Barclays employees from across the Operational Performance Team to college to take part in some volunteering, meet some of our students and also raise their awareness around disability. With the company having a current focus on helping their vulnerable customers and our existing links with them through Sight Village and All Formats, it was great to get them out to college

After meeting students and staff in LEAP Opal, who they would be working with for the morning, the first job was to pair up and plant a number of shrubs and plants  to help brighten up the courtyard. Everyone worked really well together, having lots of fun and not making too much mess along the way! The planters looked great when the group had finished, and will really help the area look nicer! Not only did the team help with this, but Barclays also paid for the tools, plants and compost they needed! After the planting, the group enjoyed a tour of College, learning more about what we do and hearing first hand from the students about what they love about QAC. Disability awareness was on the agenda after lunch as the team took part in some sighted guide and deaf blind manual training led by our Mobility Team, complete with a friendly competition at the end!

The day was a great success and we’d like to say a big thank you from everyone from Barclays who came along, particularly those who travelled quite far, for coming– LEAP Opal had a great time too!
