Work Placement Case Study - Vocational IT

NAME: Rohan 

PLACEMENT: Shard End Community Centre 

ROLE: IT Assistant / Reception Support 

IT student, Rohan, completed a placement at Shard End Community Centre & Sports Hall where he was able to put the skills and technical knowledge developed on his course into practice in a real-work environment. 

Duties included making sure the IT systems were tidy and files kept secure. His course has helped him to learn and develop a range of skills, with his most recent unit covering disassembling a PC and being able to return it to its original version whilst working in the College's Karten Lab.

The placement has enabled students to experience working with new people, improve their communication skills and follow instructions. It has given them an insight into the world of work, as well as starting to think about their future next steps within the sport and active leisure industry.
