The LEAP programme (Learning, Employment and Progression) offers a wide variety of personal development and vocational taster units to enable students to progress and achieve their full potential.
The qualification has been designed with flexibility in mind and sessions are delivered in a variety of ways incorporating both practical and theory-based activities/tasks. Students are required to build a portfolio of evidence.
LEAP qualifications are delivered at Entry 3 and Level 1. Sessions can be delivered both on campus and off-site depending on the unit or activity being taught.
Our LEAP Hubs have a specific industry focus and are designed to help prepare students for future experience of the real work environment. Providing an exciting and practical introduction, there are currently 7 Hub areas to support students with aspirations of working in a particular industry sector:
Work placements form a part of the programme that enables students to develop the skills learnt on the course in real life settings.
The skills learnt and developed are transferable into everyday life but also into other vocational areas at a higher level (at Queen Alexandra College and other FE Colleges) or whatever the desired pathway is for a learner, with a greater level of independence and confidence in their own abilities.
English, maths, employment skills and PSHE are embedded across all areas of study along with any required support and/or therapies to meet individual needs.
