Work Placement Case Study – PFL Step Out

NAME: Jack

PLACEMENT: Quinton Food Bank

ROLE: Volunteer

Jack working in the Food bank

Step Out is a 3 day a week programme part of Preparation for Life which leads students into adult social care.

Work experience at St Boniface has enabled Jack to experience a volunteer role which is something that he could do once he leaves college. Jack was supported each week by an LSA, he caught the bus to St Boniface and back to college.

During his placement Jack has worked on his communication skills, being able to follow instructions, remembering the jobs each week, being able to say if he hasn’t understood and increasing his confidence. He has learnt to recognise which bus he needed and remember the route to and from the bus stops.
