Level 2 Certificate/Extended Certificate/Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)

Entry Requirements:
•  Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Performing Arts or

•  4 GCSEs at a minimum grade of D-G or

•  A good NVQ Level 1 in an associated discipline

•  An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy

Programme Outline:
Level 2 Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma in Performing Arts allows you to choose and follow one of four pathways; acting, dance, performance or production. This course allows you to have control of what you want to learn and also provides the opportunity to focus on one discipline, not only enabling you to grow as a performer but with plenty of opportunity to discover new talents in other areas.

There are three pathways that can be chosen dependent on entry qualifications and experiences:

Level 2 Certificate in Performing Arts (QCF):
This is a 15-credit programme that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate employment sector. The Level 2 Certificate is broadly equivalent to one GCSE.

Level 2 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts (QCF):

This is a 30-credit programme which extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 2 Certificate and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate employment sector. It is broadly equivalent to two GCSEs.

Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF):

This is a 60-credit programme which extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 2 Extended Certificate. The Level 2 Diploma offers an engaging programme if you are clear about the area of employment or further education you wish to progress to.

You may want to extend the specialism you studied within the Level 2 Certificate or the Level 2 Extended Certificate programme. It is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs.

Duration:
Start dates for this programme are flexible with completion usually achieved within 2 years.

Progression:
The Level 2 Certificate, Extended Certificate and Diploma in Performing Arts offer you the opportunity to progress to or within employment and/or continue your study in the same or related vocational area within further education.
