Level 2 Certificate/Extended Certificate/Diploma in Creative Media Production (QCF)

Entry Requirements:
•  Level 1 in Creative Media Production or
•  4 GCSEs at a minimum grade of D-G or
•  A  good NVQ Level 1 or Level 2 in an associated discipline

•  An appropriate standard of literacy, numeracy and ICT

Programme Outline:
The Level 2 in Creative Media Production is a nationally-recognised qualification which has been designed to give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.

The qualification provides you with the opportunity to work in a range of areas within Creative Media Production. These include Video and Audio Production, Photography, 2D Digital Art for Computer Games, Writing for Creative Media and many more, all of which are supported with a wide range of different media/software and highly specialist equipment.

There are three pathways that can be chosen dependent on entry qualifications and experiences:

Level 2 Certificate in Creative Media Production(QCF)
This is a 15-credit programme that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate employment sector. The Level 2 Certificate is broadly equivalent to one GCSE.

Level 2 Extended Certificate in Creative Media Production (QCF)
This is a 30-credit programme which extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 2 Certificate and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate employment sector. It is broadly equivalent to two GCSEs.

Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production (QCF)
This is a 60-credit programme which extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 2 Extended Certificate.

The Level 2 Diploma offers an engaging programme if you are clear about the area of employment that you wish to enter or progress to a Level 3 programme.

You may want to extend the specialism you studied on the Level 2 Certificate or the Level 2 Extended Certificate programme. This qualification gives you opportunities to prepare for employment. It is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs.

Duration:
Start dates for these programmes are flexible, with completion usually achieved within two years.

Progression:
On successful completion of the Level 2 Programme you can progress to the Level 3 in Creative Media Production from 2012. Alternatively you might want to seek employment in the Creative Media Production sector or move on to a related vocational programme.
