Level 1 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)

Entry Requirements:
•  An Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life or Life Skills or other Entry level qualifications
•  An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy
•  Related interests and experiences

Programme Outline:
This is your opportunity to discover what aspects of the Performing Arts Industry you can thrive in. Not only does the Level 1 programme offer you the chance to develop the skills you may already have but also the chance to explore different parts of the performing arts industry such as acting, stage management or even costume and make up.

There are 3 pathways to the Level 1 in Performing Arts dependent on entry qualifications and experiences:

Level 1 Award in Performing Arts (QCF)
This is a 7-credit programme where you will be provided with an introduction to the skills, qualities and knowledge that may be required for employment in the Performing Arts sector.

Level 1 Certificate in Performing Arts (QCF)

This is a 13-credit programme, which extends the work-related focus from the Level 1 Award and covers some of the knowledge and practical skills that may be required for employment in the Performing Arts sector.

Level 1 Diploma in Performing Arts (QCF)

This is a 37-credit programme, which extends the work-related focus from the Level 1 Certificate. There is potential for the qualification to prepare you for employment in the Performing Arts sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a specific area of work or progress to a related general and/or vocational qualification.

Duration:
Start dates for this programme are flexible with completion usually achieved within 2 years.

Progression:
After successfully completing this course you may want to progress to one of the Level 2 Performing Arts programmes or a related qualification. You might study at a further education college independently or gain skills for employment.
