Entry 3 / Level 1 LEAP Hub Care

Intent & Curriculum purpose:

Developing independence, communication and personal skills, with an introduction to a diverse range of employment skills. 

Programme Outline:

This Hub focuses on developing the career skills, knowledge and awareness of the different types of provision within the Care sector with a focus on early years and elderly care. It includes the roles played by workers, from the principles and values through to health and safety and working with others.

LEAP Hub Care is designed to:

  • support students to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills required for employment and/or career pathway progression in the Care sector
  • allow students to tailor their learning to achieve their goals and continue their personal development, such as communication, independence and social skills
  • provide opportunities for the development of transferable skills in the classroom and in practical settings through work experience

Work Experience:

Planned in groups and through individual work experience. Internal and some external where appropriate.

English and Maths:

Discrete sessions in English and maths including a qualification route, where applicable. Functional English and maths embedded via the curriculum. 

Additional skills development:

Personal and social development skills such as independent living skills (ILS), confidence-building, teamwork, healthy living, citizenship, rights and responsibilities. In addition, students will have access to a wide range of ongoing wellbeing and mindfulness initiatives.  

Progression:
On successful completion, progression is likely to be: full/part-time employment, further education, a supported internship, apprenticeship or progression onto the vocational Health and Social Care programme offered by QAC.
