World Sight Day 2023

World Sight Day is on Thursday, 12th October 2023, and this year's theme is the importance of eye care in the workplace.

A few weeks ago, Health and Social Care students participated in an engaging session led by Sarah, our Visual Impairment Training Officer.

The focus of the session was to explore the various support mechanisms available to individuals with sight loss. As a component of sight loss awareness, learners were provided the opportunity to examine a range of glasses tailored for various visual impairments.

Additionally, they experienced first-hand what it's like to navigate using a cane. Students learned important skills: they became more understanding of people with sight problems, got better at noticing details by looking at different visual aids, and practiced how to move around and guide those with vision issues.
