QAC receives AoC Beacon Awards Commended Colleges Certificate

We are happy to announce that we have met the 2018/19 AoC Beacon Standard and are now recognised as a Beacon Award commended college!

This commendation comes as a result of the great work done by our LGBTQ+ group SPARK, providing a safe place for students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning to meet and talk with others about things that matter to them and promote acceptance. The group is led by two of our students as well as our PSHE team!

The work of the group is discussed and celebrated across college. It educates our students and staff by reducing prejudice and intolerance and embraces diversity and inclusion. It breaks down barriers, normalises difference, and offers a trusted, safe shared experience.

The QAC SPARK group gives voice and presence to a highly marginalised group of young people whilst educating and supporting the wider college population.
