Colleges Week 2023 - Daily Theme: Construction

Monday's #CollegesWeek2023 theme is Construction so we are focusing on our LEAP Hub Multi-Trades programme.

LEAP Hub Multi-Trades is a practical based programme that focuses on developing a range of transferable skills in our dedicated workshops that will help students to prepare for life after QAC, and progress on to the next steps of their chosen career pathway.

Alongside their course, students also participate in work placements. Josh is in his third year at College and has accessed various work placements which have provided him an insight to possible job opportunities following his time at QAC. 

Josh has previously completed work placements where he has worked with other students to paint a community centre and also make bird boxes which were donated to West Smethwick park.

Josh clears holly from the pathway at Pitts Wood

As part of his current placement, Josh visits Pitts Wood with other students to carry out a range of tasks, including clearing holly to clear the pathways around the woodland. This is an ongoing work placement for the group, and they are allocated different jobs to do each week. 

In addition to external placements, the students also partake in internal work placements supporting our maintenance team in and around the College campus.
