Colleges Week 2022
Queen Alexandra College is celebrating AoC’s National Colleges Week 2022 (17-21 October), recognising the great work of staff and students across the College.
Colleges Week was launched in 2018 as part of the 'Love Our Colleges' campaign. The week is a chance to celebrate the brilliant things colleges do, day in and day out to support people to upskill and retrain, to support employers across innovation and skills and recognise their role as anchor institutions in their communities. This year’s Colleges Week theme is based around staff, students and skills, as this is what makes a College and which will showcase all the great things staff do in Colleges to provide students and employers with the skills they need to succeed.
Colleges are essential community anchors and play a central role in local communities, the labour market, and enhancing life chances for millions of people. This is especially true in parts of the country that have suffered economic stagnation in recent years and have experienced further disruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, Colleges support employers and communities up and down the country and across all sectors with the skills development and innovation they need to grow, improve opportunities and jobs, and increase productivity. They are essential to meeting skills needs now and, in the future – including the upskilling of key sectors for the net-zero carbon economy.
